Get to know Lydia

Lydia is a 32-year-old single missionary, being sent out by her local Brazilian church (Igreja Bíblica Batista do Planalto. She believes her experience of growing up as an American missionary kid on Brazilian soil, in conjunction with her native-acquired knowledge and experience can lead to beneficial and impactful ministry in south Brazil. She has a degree in early-childhood education (2012 - Universidade do Vale do Acarau), a bachelors in culinary arts (2019 - Universidade Federal do Ceara), a masters in biblical counseling (2021 - Instituto Aubrey Clark-SIBIMA) as well as several other qualificative certificates and experiences. She also takes joy in cooking and hosting, singing, writing, and general adventure seeking. She recently completed a 6-month missionary internship and is in the process of affiliating with ABWE as a mission agency.

Who am I?

I am a disciple of Jesus, with all the capacities and gifts that He has given me through His grace. These specifically entail: His Word (2 Tm. 3:16) and His Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13-14; Rm. 15:14), my God-given identity as a woman (Gn. 1:26; 2:22), His righteousness that I clothe (Phl. 3:9; Is.61:10), and all other rich blessings, both physical and spiritual that He has given me (2 Pe.1:3).

Any good that is associated with my name, is because He has given me the grace to do the good works He prepared for me before time (Ef. 2:10; 2 Tm 3:14-17), for it is from Him, and through Him, and to Him that all things exist (Rm.11:36).

I firmly believe in God’s sovereignty over my life story and how He has purposefully brought me along through experiences and given me the opportunities to instill in me character and to develop the skills, talents and grace-gifts He has given (Rm. 8:28-29). I believe He has prepared me with specific spiritual gifts in order to serve Him and edify the church as I go, make disciples and teach them to observe all things that He has commanded (Mt. 28:19-20).
