The relationship between a missionary and their sending church is of upmost importance. It is normal after a period of time away, that there be many of the sending church that don't personally know the missionary.
I praise the Lord for the growth that my sending church has had over the last year. As I attend the regular church events, I meet and see so many new faces almost every week. This is why, over these next few months, one of my main focus is to get to know once again, those who are a part of this body. Serving, being present at meetings, discipling and being a blessing to this body of believers before I am sent onto the field, are some of the many ways I am seeking to stregthen these relational bonds.
Discipling

Discipling is one of my many joys in serving. I have had the opportunity to begin studying with a few women even while I am in this process of support raising. Please be praying for the spiritual growth and maturity of Maria Clara, as we go through the Story of Hope, and as I train her to disciple and evangelize others of her family.
Missions-minded

One of the things I love about my home church is the focus on missions. From being the crib of the Brazilian mission MMM (Maranatha Multicultural Ministries), to focusing on church plants, God has used the church of Planalto as a springboard and inspiration for missions. I believe that one of the most important periods of the year is the month of October where missions is intentionally focused on in many different aspects.

To open up the month focusing on missions, we had a late night prayer vigil. Many hours of the night were dedicated in knowing about the needs of missionaries, praying for them and for more to be sent out, listening to testimonies of those who are in ministerial training, as well as being challenged by the Word and testimonies of faithful servants who gave up their life for the cause of the Gospel.
Sharing with the next generations
The youth are the next generation of missionaries, leaders, and members of the church. It is important that they too, understand their role in missions. Many missionaries have answered God’s call of missions while in their childhood or teen years. I am grateful for several opportunities to speak to the youth of the Planalto church as well as pour into their lives. Below are pictured some of these opportunities I had this month.
(On the left: sharing my testimony to the teens at a retreat. Center: telling the missionary story about a recent conversion in South Brazil at Planalto Church’s yearly kids mission event called BOOT camp. On the right: sharing with the kids at Planalto church about the religious reality of the south of Brazil.)

Praises
For my sending church (Planalto Church) that is actively involved in missions.
For the opportunities I have had to challenge and share with my sending church.
For the gifts and commitments that the Lord has provided thusfar.
Prayer Requests
For the necessary funding for the move to Rio Grande do Sul
That I might be used to challenge others to think about their role in missions
That my heart would be able to fully trust in God’s perfect timing and in His gracious provision.
For others who are willing to answer the call to missions in South Brazil
That God would provide the right partners to be generously committed to funding the ministry I am presenting.
